How and where did you meet?
We meet through work. The company I worked for was their client.
How did he propose?
It was on my birthday. I was from a company team building and so tired. I slept all day and at around 7.30 pm he pleaded we go for dinner since I didn’t feel like going anywhere. I finally accepted and while having dinner he popped the question!
Did you have traditional ceremonies before the wedding? How did they go?
We had 3 visits at my place and one visit to his place. They went very well and were very colorful. They really helped our families to bond.
Why did you choose your particular colors, theme, venue, service providers etc?
Color – Royal purple and Silver. Purple is just elegant and silver blended in very well with the purple.
Venue – We really love nature and there was no other perfect venue for us than Botanical Gardens. I wanted a venue with lots of tress, greenery and no visible building in the vicinity. We wanted more of a “wedding in the bush”.
MC- We wanted a person who can entertain people of all ages.
Caterer – Our desire was that our guests enjoy exceptionally tasty food.
Photographer – We went with Ark Studio since their photography is very creative and different. You need good pictures to remember the day well.
Décor- Décor just sets the mood for the wedding. The décor was on point.
What was the most challenging part while planning the wedding?
Deciding on the bridal party and keeping it small since I have very many friends as well as managing pressure from relatives who want to be part of it.
Give a brief recount of the wedding day, from waking up till evening and the things that were going through your mind at the time.
In the morning I was very anxious hoping all would go well. When walking down the aisle I was so happy to finally be with the man I wanted to spend my life with!
But I have to admit the excitement was so much and at some point my mind was blank and so I just smiled. Looking at everyone there I was humbled by their presence, and by late afternoon was already anticipating the honeymoon….
What part did you love most about the whole process of planning and having the wedding?
I loved the whole process as it made us even closer and this was like the 1st big project we were doing together.
Gladly, we agreed on almost everything. We actually planned the entire wedding ourselves!
What was the most memorable part of the wedding?
The most memorable was saying the vows…..Till today I remember those vows. They meant a lot to both of us and they still do.
Any other interesting aspects you had in the wedding?
I loved dancing out of church as husband and wife. No wonder we danced like crazy!
What do you think is the most overrated thing in weddings?
I think everything about a wedding is overrated. People need to do their homework well and know where to invest more in when it comes to a wedding.
What’s the most important thing you learnt from your counselor?
Run your own race and that every marriage is different. It takes two to tangle. If you love each other you do anything possible to make it work.
Any tips/lessons you would like to share with other brides and grooms?
Start early and do what pleases you. Do not attempt to please others as you cannot please everyone. As long as you’re happy with something go for it. Make sure your guests do not enjoy your wedding more than yourself. Enjoy the day.
Lastly invest in good photography and rings as that will be the only visual memory you’ll have for that special day.
