DJ Soxxy & Anne

You probably know DJ Soxxy as the very talented, former host of the TV show Kubamba and more recently on The Switch on K24. So it is with much delight that we bring you his beautiful wedding to his stunning bride Anne. Ever seen the groom proposing to the bride at their wedding?

Well, this one did! This was clearly no ordinary affair. Everything was in line with the gorgeous Indian Theme and to add to the glitz and glamour, this wedding was star-studded. And we absolutely love their photoshoot at the picturesque Nairobi Safari Walk

Prepare to get lost in the creative details of this wedding!

Tell us your story? How and where did you meet?
We met in high school and had been friends since then but started dating way after high school.

What do you love the most about each other?
Soxxy: I love that Anne loves who I am and not what I am.
Anne: What I love most about Soxxy is that he is humorous and makes me laugh.
For how long did you plan your wedding and what did you enjoy most about the planning process?
We planned our wedding for one year and what we enjoyed most is that we did not have a committee and it was a project we did just the two of us assisted by a friend who is a wedding planner.
What songs did you and your bridal team walk down the aisle to?
We used an Indian song.
What was your wedding theme and what inspired your choice of colours, suppliers and style?
Our theme was Indian and our colours Pink and Gold.

Our suppliers were very creative and brought out what we wanted perfectly and added their touch to it.

DJ Soxxy, you are a leading DJ and MC in the entertainment industry, what advice would you give to couples on selecting their entertainment?
I would ask the couples not to compromise quality for price. You can get cheap service but regret during the event due to the quality of service you get.

A wedding is never repeated hence you have to get it right the first time.

Give a brief recount of the wedding day, from waking up till evening and the things that were going through your mind at the time.
The day started well though early morning it was drizzling so we thought it was going to be a dull day.
The sky cleared up and we had great weather all day.
Everything we had planned fell into place as the day went by and we had a beautiful ceremony and reception. We wished we didn’t have an evening party because by evening we were so tired from all the dancing we had done during the reception.
We ended the night on a high; dancing and mingling with close friends and relatives during the evening party.

Tell us your biggest cost saver and any cost saving tips you have for people planning their wedding.
We did not have a lot of flowers but more of props that complemented the theme.

You must have learnt quite a number of things during the wedding process. What did you learn regarding the wedding gown that you would like to other couples to know?
It is better to have your own gown made because you customize it to what u want it to look like and you also save money.

What (in your opinion), do you think is the most overrated thing in weddings?
Flowers and flashy cars carrying the bridal party.
What (in your opinion) are the items in the wedding planning process that couples should put emphasis on?
Rings and honeymoon
