Tell us your story; how and where did you meet?
It was on a Sunday back in 2003 in December. I attended the youth church service as usual we walked home as we chatted with friends and there we bumped into each other. We had a little chat as he escorted me home. We then exchanged contacts and a simple goodbye hug.
Carol: What qualities made you decide that he was the man for you?
He was unique. The kind of a guy who had such a respectful approach on everything, his honesty, his sense of humor. I was often laughing when together. He is also hardworking and God fearing.
For how long did you plan your wedding and what did you enjoy most about the planning process?
We started planning for our wedding in January 2014. Our friends are such a blessing as they helped us plan for this day since we both had tight schedule jobs.
My friends and family were there for us and they kept me up to speed whenever I was out of office mostly on weekends and I enjoyed every bit of the time as they made sure everything was in place.
What songs were played as you and your bridal team walked down the aisle?
Bridal Team: If you’re not the one – Daniel Bedingfield
I found Love – Bebe & Cece Winans played as I walked down the aisle with my parents.
What was your wedding theme and what inspired your choice of colours, suppliers and style?
I have always loved the colour peach (it feels warm and bright) and I wanted a little bit of light green as I adore nature…so I felt a combination of the two would bring out a cheerful celebration.
My suppliers nailed it just the way I wanted, lots of fresh petals and fantastic draping. They made our day memorable.
What would you say was your biggest challenge during the planning process and how did you overcome it?
Well, I would say that “time” was of big challenge as I really had to balance work and the planning i.e. shopping and meeting suppliers etc…
Tell us your biggest cost saver and any cost saving tips you have for people planning their wedding.
The biggest cost saver was that we did not have to hire any cars whatsoever. The cars for the entire bridal team (fuelled fleet of Mercedes) were all from our friends. Friends are really the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
Give a brief recount of the wedding day, from waking up till evening and the things that were going through your mind at the time.
I was a little nervous that morning. He called me very early to wake me up.
Our day was finally here, it was a little bit chilly that morning but I thank God for the beautiful sunshine just as we headed to the church.
When I heard people singing outside the house I felt tears welling up in my eyes.
I couldn’t wait to see how the day would unfold but I knew in my heart it would be a beautiful day. A day we had committed before God and yes it was beautiful and full of cheer.
