We are absolutely delighted to bring you this wedding between the gospel sensation, Gerriey Wainaina and his American sweetheart, Viorica. With a gorgeous colour combo of red, gold and cream this star-studded wedding is a must-see!
Have a look at the stunning details below.
Tell us your story? How and where did you meet?
-Gerriey and I met while I was on a mission trip to Kenya in 2009. The instant we met, we automatically clicked. We spent the next week of my stay getting to know one another before I had to return back to The States.
What do you love the most about each other?
What I love most about Gerriey is that he is a selfless being.
He cares so much about other people and it shows with how he carries himself.
How did he propose?
-Gerriey surprised me one Sunday after church. We had planned to go to a video shoot at Windsor April 6, 2014. Believing this was true, I had no idea he was going to propose that day.
When we arrived he said we were early for the shoot so we could walk around. He was so insistent about finding the bridge that we could walk to that he asked three different people.
Upon reaching the bridge, not a minute later, Gerriey pulled out his phone to play Jason Derulo; Marry Me. After the song had finished he bent on one knee and asked the big question.
What songs did you and your bridal team walk down the aisle to?
Gerriey and grooms men walked down with Walk the Talk- by Gerriey Wainaina,
Bridesmaids; When Jesus says Yes by Mitchelle… special performances by Gerriey Wainaina, Ian Mbugua and Mbuvi our best man
Bride - live organ piece… it’s a coincidence that her mum walked down with the same song when she got married
What was your wedding theme and what inspired your choice of colours, suppliers and style?
Our wedding theme was red and gold Christmas seeing that December was our wedding month.
It was Viorica who chose the all around theme which turned out to be a beautiful wedding.
Give a brief recount of the wedding day, from waking up till evening and the things that were going through your mind at the time.
It the best day in my life I was soo relaxed and just happy to get married to the love of my life.
Viorica: Your newly wedded husband, Gerriey, is a gospel musician known to many. Was narrowing down the guest list a challenge and if so, how did you handle it?
The truth is there was no guest list. Anyone who came, came. It was a wonderful event.
You must have learnt quite a number of things during the wedding process. What did you learn regarding the wedding that you would like to other couples to know?
Planning a wedding takes a lot of work but truth is when the day comes, all those details don’t seem to matter.
Please, don’t be stressed about the small stuff because weddings don’t usually go as planned. The reality is there is only one reason for the big day and that is to marry your spouse.
Any other tips/lessons you would like to share with other brides and grooms planning for their wedding?
• You should enjoy your wedding but don’t lose sight of the next days to come. A wedding is a small event in comparison to the lifetime you will share with your spouse.
• At the wedding day as long as you have your rings, your wife and certificate don’t panic about the rest.
• Make sure you have paid rent to the house you will stay months before wedding.
